The Danish physicist Niels Bohr proposed, in 1913, an atomic model capable of explaining the stability of matter. Bohr, based on Max Planck's quantum theory and Ernest Rutherford's nuclear theory, established a model in which electrons were far from the nucleus, circling around him.
